Water is life. The People’s Water Board advocates for access, protection, and conservation of water. We believe water is a human right and all people should have access to clean and affordable water. Water is a commons that should be held in the public trust free of privatization. The People’s Water Board promotes awareness of the interconnectedness of all people and resources.

PWB and Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick
March 30th the PWB meet personally with U.S. Representative Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick for meeting concerning water issues in her district. When the title PWB and it's ideas were mentioned the congresswoman curiousity sparked and congratulated the different organizations for giving birth to this coalition. Afterwards PWB commissoners frankly stated their demands, including water rates increase at DWSD, rate structure changes, Asian Carp, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and Great Lakes Ecosystem Restoration Initiative. The representaitve thought our ideas were insightful and agreed that federal support was needed to bring these concerns to reality. A list of official demands will be typed for the congresswoman for her eyes soon. Don't forget the People's Water Board meeting occurs second Monday at MCHT Building on Second Ave. Hope to see you there.
