World Water Day Poster Contest

World Water Day is March 22 and to celebrate, the People’s Water Board Coalition invites children and youth K-12 to participate in a poster contest.

Worldwide, there are over 1.1 billion people that do not have access to clean water. With the recent earthquake in Haiti, we saw how water became a critical factor to survival.

We also see these challenges in Detroit, where we are surrounded by twenty percent of the world’s fresh surface water supply. Because we are surrounded by this water, we have the opportunity and responsibility to make sure everyone has access to clean and affordable water.

All children and youth K-12 are invited to create posters to spread this message to raise community awareness.

CONTEST RULES:
All submissions must be original and created by the students.

Drawings or paintings should be done on 8.5 x 11 inch, 14 x 21 inch, or 17 x 24 inch paper.

All entries must be clearly labeled with: Student Name, School Name, and Age

Submissions must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 17 and sent to:
East Michigan Environmental Action Council
87 East Canfield Street, Suite 4500
Detroit, MI 48202

Awards will be presented on Monday, March 22 to the following age groups: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, and 17-19. We will also give an award to the overall winner.

On Monday, March 22 we invite all of your students and their families to attend a reception and awards ceremony from 5:30 to 8pm at St. Anne’s Church Parish Hall; 1000 St Anne Street; Detroit.

Thank you!
People’s Water Board Coalition
